Its good to be back....

Procrastination is bad. Everybody knows it. It hampers your performance at work, plays havoc with your daily routine, you lose count of things piling up in the 'to do' list, and stuffs like that. But sometimes, you just want to say "what the hell", push all those inane, mundane MS office documents aside, turn away from your workstation, and just gaze into the ceiling, weaving away thoughts & dreams. I know the feeling, have come across it far too often, and have been a 'fan' of it for long enough. That is the precise reason which kept me away from the blogging universe for more than a year, a time span considered a lifetime in this part of the virtual world; where there are events occuring a minute, and one could have written a book on the events in the past tweleve months, let alone two cents of thought.
The soccer world cup came & went, with Spain finally waking up from its deep slumber as a football superpower and established a new world order of sorts, where meticulous planning, drawing board strategies & magic on the field can go hand-in-hand, and are not separate galaxies, as previously Brazil & Italy had illustrated in their distinctive gameplays in the last two editions of the foootball's greatest event.
Rafael Nadal picked up where he had left off last Wimbledon, and wandered from the grass of the famous Centre court, to the hard courts of Flushing Meadows & the red soils of Paris, a drill in hand, etching his name on the trophies in a beautiful yet fearsome display of tennis. But you still see that non-stop running around the court match after match, and can't help but let that creepy thought hover, "for how much more time will that knee hold up?" He surely can't go on doing that forever. The knee had broken down once, sidelining him for almost a year, and there's every chance that it might occur again. But just like Tendulkar moulded another aspect of his gameplay to suit the changing times, so shall the Hispanic Marauder from Mallorca.
Speaking of Tendulkar, I don't want to weave another wreath of praise & gratitude in his honour, a thing which newspapers & articles all around the cricketing globe have been doing so regularly of late. There's nothing that hasn't been said, or is too petty to be said in his honour, so let just that be. I'm just privileged to be born in his era, to have watched him perform his wizardry with such boring regularity, that we as a nation had the audacity to take his genius as granted. Now that the Sun is nearing the horizon, that we have realized what we're going to lose in a few year's time.
The farce that is IPL completed another edition, although I must admit that despite my snigger, I had followed the matches involving KKR with almost vulagar regularity. That was because there was the word 'Kolkata' associated with the team, and the Bengali in me had to give in. But now that I know better, i hope it makes me a more sensible human being.
I guess that would be that, to break the ice. One year is a painfully long time to get back in touch with the lost art of penning your thoughts, but then it never too late to 're'start.
Will be back very soon, I hope....
